LED Lighting

LED Lighting

LEDs (light emitting diodes) were discovered in the 1920s by a Russian radio engineer who observed that when an electrical current ran through a radio diode it emitted light. Research was carried out and in the following decades usage of LEDs in everyday objects increased until recently when the use of LED technology in lighting has exploded. As we have become more aware of energy consumption and the detrimental effect it is having on the environment, measures have been increasingly put in place to reduce energy consumption, and consequently energy bills, as much as possible. In comparison to incandescent lamps (everyday bulbs), LEDs consume 0.3 watts of energy for every 20 watts of light they emit. Incandescent lamps consume 20 watts of energy for every 20 watts of light they emit. While in the past they developed a reputation for not being very bright, developments in the technology have improved so much that they are capable of achieving the same light that a halogen lamp can.

In our range, we can supply LED lights for bathrooms, spotlights, kitchens, outdoor and indoor; practically anywhere in the home. They can be used purely for decorative effect, coming in a wide range of colours – as well as colour changing – or they can be used functionally, providing sharp, direct light when needed. LEDs provide a distinctively classy and expensive aesthetic, and are amongst the most contemporary lighting available today. They add an air of sophistication without pretentiousness, and will drastically reduce the energy bills of any home they are installed in.
