WEEE Compliance & Environmental Sustainablity

Our Commitment to WEEE Compliance and Environmental Sustainability

At KES Lighting & Home, we are dedicated to not only providing high-quality lighting solutions but also to minimising our environmental impact.

As a responsible business, we are proud to be fully compliant with the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Regulations.

What is WEEE?
WEEE refers to the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Regulations, which aim to promote the recycling and reuse of electrical and electronic equipment. These regulations require manufacturers and retailers to provide a means for customers to recycle their old electrical items when purchasing new ones, helping to reduce the amount of waste sent to landfills.

How Does WEEE Work?
Under the WEEE Regulations, we utilise Recolight, a leading WEEE compliance scheme in the UK. This partnership allows us to offer our customers a hassle-free way to recycle their old lighting equipment.

When you purchase a new lighting product from us, you can return your old (like for like) equipment to us, and we will ensure that it is properly recycled through our WEEE compliance scheme.

This service is provided free of charge, making it easy for you to do your part in protecting the environment.

Why is WEEE Important for the Environment?
By recycling old electrical and electronic equipment, we can conserve natural resources, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and prevent harmful substances from entering the environment.

WEEE compliance helps to:
  • Reduce the amount of waste sent to landfills
  • Conserve valuable materials like glass, plastic, and metal
  • Prevent the release of hazardous substances into the environment
  • Save energy by reducing the need for raw material extraction and processing

What does the ‘crossed out wheelie bin’ symbol mean?

If you see this symbol on any of your electrical items or the box that it came in, it means that the product should be recycled at end of life and not thrown away with any household waste.
