Help & Advice

The size of a crystal chandelier should be in proportion to the room or space where it's being installed. A general rule is to add the room's length and width (in feet), and the resulting number is the ideal diameter (in inches) for the chandelier. For dining rooms, the chandelier should be about 1/2 to 2/3 the width of the dining table for optimal balance.
To clean a crystal chandelier: a. Turn off and let it cool. b. Lay a drop cloth or soft blanket below the chandelier to catch any falling pieces. c. Wear white cotton gloves to prevent fingerprints. d. Mix a solution of one part isopropyl alcohol to three parts distilled water in a spray bottle. e. Spray the solution on a soft lint-free cloth and gently wipe each crystal. f. Never spray the solution directly onto the chandelier to prevent damage to the frame or other parts. g. Use a separate dry cloth to buff the crystal and bring out its shine.
Crystal chandeliers are primarily made of high-quality glass with a lead content of at least 24%. The lead increases the glass's refractive index, making the crystals clearer and more sparkly. The frames can be made of various metals, including brass, gold, silver, or chrome.
Absolutely! While the designs and trends may evolve, the timeless elegance and luxury of crystal chandeliers make them perpetually in vogue. They can suit modern, traditional, or transitional decors, making them versatile across eras.
The primary difference lies in the lead content. Crystal chandeliers contain at least 24% lead, which gives them their signature clarity, brilliance, and weight. Glass chandeliers lack this lead content, making them less sparkly and clear compared to their crystal counterparts.
The individual crystals that hang from chandeliers are commonly referred to as "pendalogues" or "drops." They come in various shapes and sizes, with each design contributing to the chandelier's overall aesthetics and light refraction.
Crystals are not just decorative; they play a crucial role in light dispersion. When light passes through the crystal, it refracts into a spectrum of colors, creating a dazzling light show. This brilliant display of light and the cascading design of crystals contribute to the chandelier's luxurious and opulent appearance.
