Finishes that are meant to age

Bronze, pewter, weathered zinc and Corten are not trying to stay new. They patinate, and the good ones are guaranteed to do it rather than corrode.

What we'd tell you in the showroom

Bronze is the finish that suits brick, stone and anything with a bit of age to it, indoors and out, and it is the one that ranks best for us on search.

Outdoors it is also the sensible choice, because a weathered finish absorbs what the weather does to it. Several of the posts and bollards carry a 5 year warranty against severe corrosion, and some carry 15 years against structural failure.

The one to avoid is putting bronze into a cool grey scheme, where it reads as a mistake rather than a warm note.
