Is there a difference between a Tiffany lamp and a Tiffany style lamp?

Yes, and it is worth being clear. An original Tiffany lamp was made by Tiffany Studios in New York, which closed in the 1930s, and originals are auction pieces. Everything sold new today, ours included, is Tiffany style: made by the same copper foil method, in the same idiom, by makers such as Interiors 1900, Quoizel and Novena.
How is a Tiffany style shade made?

By the copper foil method Louis Comfort Tiffany popularised. Each piece of coloured glass is cut, ground to fit, wrapped at the edge in adhesive copper foil, then soldered to its neighbours, so the dark lines you see are solder rather than lead came. A single shade can carry several hundred individual pieces, which is why no two are quite identical.
What bulbs do Tiffany ceiling lights take?

Interiors 1900 and Quoizel sit at the heavier, more traditional end, and Novena covers a wider spread of pattern and scale. All are made by the copper foil method rather than printed.
Can a Tiffany light go in a bathroom?

Not as a rule. Of our Tiffany ceiling lights, 173 are rated IP20, meaning no protection against moisture at all, so they belong in halls, landings, dining rooms and bedrooms. If you want the look in a bathroom you need a fitting with an IP rating suited to the zone, and the work is notifiable under Part P.
When is a Tiffany light the wrong choice?

As the only light in a room. A coloured glass shade absorbs a great deal of what the bulb produces, so a Tiffany fitting gives atmosphere rather than working light and leaves a kitchen or an office short. Use one as the character piece and put the practical light somewhere else.
