- Across (width) 175mm a little smaller than a house brick end to end (215mm)
- Tall (height) 600mm about the same as eight courses of brickwork (600mm)
- Out from the wall 130mm bigger than a house brick stood on its end (102mm)
- Weight 3.19kg about the weight of a full kettle, so proper masonry fixings rather than whatever came in the box
Will it fit
- Size it against your door
- Outdoors the usual mistake is going too small. A lantern that looks generous in a photograph or in the hand shrinks against a house front, which is why so many go up and then disappoint. The convention is a single lantern about a third of the door height, or about a quarter each where there is a pair either side, so roughly 660mm and 495mm on a standard 1981mm front door. At 600mm tall it covers about 30% of that door. That is the size a pair either side of a front door usually wants. On its own beside the same door it will read on the small side.
- How high to put it
- The usual convention centres a lantern beside a front door at about 1.7m from the ground, near eye level, and holds it 150mm to 300mm clear of the door frame. Centred at 1.7m the top of this one would reach about 2000mm, which is above the 1981mm head of a standard door. Dropping the centre to about 1681mm brings the top level with the door instead, which is usually what looks right.
- One or a pair
- A pair either side of the door is the usual arrangement wherever there is wall on both sides. This one is 175mm across, and with the 150mm to 300mm the convention leaves off the frame you want roughly 475mm of clear brickwork on each side. Where only one side has that much, a single lantern on the handle side, or one centred above the door head, is the normal alternative.
- How far it stands off the wall
- It stands 130mm out from the wall, which is shallow. That is the right answer where a path, a gate or a car passes close, and it is worth knowing it will read flatter from the road than a deeper lantern of the same height.
- More than one along a wall
- Outdoors the spacing is wider than indoors, because there is nothing to bounce the light back. A common starting point is one fitting every two fence panels, about 3.6m, against the 2m to 2.5m used inside, so a 10m frontage usually takes three rather than four or five.
Every measurement above is this product's own published size. Door sizes, brick courses, fence panels and mounting heights are the usual UK standards and conventions, not this manufacturer's instructions. A front door is taken as 1981mm by 762mm and a course of brickwork as 75mm, one brick plus its mortar bed, so you can count them off your own wall. If you are working to a tight space, ask us and we will check it against the datasheet for you.

How do you ensure my package arrives safely?
You will not find a better packed box! We take huge amounts of care to ensure your order will arrive intact.
All fittings are packed inside of boxes with large amounts of padding and bubble wrap and are then packed inside another well padded box for an additional layer of protection. Oversized packages can be delivered in a crate.
Who is going to deliver my package?
KES only works with the most reliable couriers, such as DPD and Parcelforce. When a package is especially large or fragile, we use our own white-glove delivery service to ensure safe delivery.
Will my order arrive on time? How do I stay updated on the progress?
When an item is in stock, it will take from 2-5 working days for delivery. Stock statuses are available on the product pages so please refer to them when considering what dates to book your electrician.
From the moment of purchase, we’ll be in regular contact via a series of emails related to the progress of your order. Once out for dispatch, you’ll receive a tracking link from the courier that will give you real time status updates.

Are the fittings easy to install? Will there be instructions?
We would strongly advise that you always use a qualified electrician to install your lights. All fittings come with detailed instructions on how to do so.
What is the product quality like? Will my fitting look like how it does in the pictures?
We work with the luxury lighting industry’s leading suppliers, all of whom are renowned for their craftsmanship and quality of finish. All the pictures you see on the site are the actual fittings you’d receive, so you can be confident of recreating the same look in your own home.
I need a replacement part! Can you help?
We understand that accidental damage can happen from time – if you do require a new piece of glass or crystal, a lampshade etc please get in touch and let us know. We have excellent relationships with our suppliers and more often than not we’re able to source the required parts.
Do you offer a guarantee?
Yes, we offer a 12-month guarantee on all products. Some of our manufacturers offer a 2-5 year guarantee on certain products – when this is the case it is usually noted on the description section.
Do all prices include VAT?
All prices include VAT @20%. However, purchases made from outside the United Kingdom, including the Channel Islands, are not liable for VAT, and this will be reflected in the basket during checkout.
